2023 Battle of Indiana
- During the 2022 Summer, someone put it in my head about how exciting it would be to watch Brayton Thomas face Max Clark in a live at bat. So I thought; “Why not? Lets make it happen.” I then proceeded to dream bigger and bigger for an event where we could get some of the best baseball prospects in Indiana together at the same place on the same day to compete before the 2023 Spring Season.
- Battle of Indiana took place on January 29th at the RoundTripper Academy in Westfield, IN. Over 70 prospects were in attendance; including Vanderbilt Commits Max Clark and Brandon Logan, Indiana Commits Brayton Thomas, Hogan Denny, Eli Bennett, and many other Power 5 Commits. Many baseball media companies and baseball brands like Kraken Bat Grip and Titan Bat Company were involved as sponsors of the event.
- Baseball Media powerhouses All American Prospects, Youth Prospects, Dan Sarmiento, and Ball State’s NA Films were in attendance during the event capturing content from all of the Power 5 Commits.
“Battle of Indiana was an awesome experience and I had a really great time! I think it was set up really well and it was an awesome environment. I think Jayce did an awesome job with the event! I am thankful to have been invited and I’m super excited for the event next year!”

“I really appreciate everything that Jayce did and it was a really sweet event to take part in. I will be interested in attending in future years. It was awesome to get to see such great competition and get to see some live pitching from some of the top players in Indiana before the highschool season starts.”

“I really appreciate Jayce having me! Honestly the event was great. I was thinking it was going to be a little bit of a mess because the first time and dealing with so many participants but it was really well run. I’m very impressed with how he handled that.”

“I think the Battle of Indiana was a good experience. I liked how it was a lot of good players altogether; battling each other and being competitive. With a lot of different classes; that made it a lot of fun.”

2022 Summit City Baseball Academy
- The 2022 Summit City Baseball Academy was hosted on December 27-30 at the Summit City Sluggers Facility in Fort Wayne, IN. Camp hosts included 2022 Freshman All American Carter Mathison, Indiana University Pitcher Brayden Risedorph, and 2023 Northern Kentucky Senior OF Treyvin Moss.
- These three collegiate athletes put together their skills and baseball knowledge to teach the next generation of talent in the Fort Wayne area. The main skills taught during the Inaugural Summit City Baseball Academy were pitch grips and mindset, hitting approach, baserunning, and fielding.
- When it was all said and done, we were able to raise over $3500 for NIL for Mathison, Risedorph, and Moss.
2019 NECC Home Run Derby
- During my Senior year at Lakeland High School, I got the opportunity to partner with a good friend of mine, Braden Yoder, to raise money for a non profit organization located in Elkhart, IN named Hello Gorgeous!
- The process started at the beginning of September when we finally came to the conclusion that we wanted to host a Home Run Derby throughout the Northeast Corner Conference (NECC) raising money for some type of non profit organization.
- Then came the preparation and finding a good organization to donate. Braden introduced me to Kim and Trisha from Hello Gorgeous and we knew it was the perfect fit. We set our date and got to work. That included marketing the event through social media, contacting local reporters, recruiting the local ballplayers to participate, selling tickets, finding sponsors, and scheduling a Media Day before the event.
- After many visits to businesses, calls with reporters, meetings with the IHSAA and local Newspapers we were ready to host the event. Our preparation was key because the event went smoothly with very few bumps. Media Day was a big success, as we had reporters from many different Newspapers around the area to interview the participants. We ended up selling over 350 tickets to raise over $5,200. The Home Run Derby was a complete success!
2022 Summit City Lineman Academy
- The 2022 Summit City Lineman Academy was hosted on May 14-15, and May 22-23 at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The camp was hosted by Fort Wayne football greats and Bishop Dwenger alumni Vinny Fiacable, Joe Tippmann, Luke Wiginton, as well as Snider alumni Randy Holtz.
- These four athletes used their lineman skills they have learned at Indiana University and the University of Wisconsin to host over 70 campers in grades 5-11. The main skills taught at the Inaugural Summit City Lineman Academy were explosion, agility, technique, pass protection, run block, and footwork. The camp also included a recruiting Q&A for the High School campers.
- Fiacable, Tippmann, Wiginton, and Holtz were successfully able to partner with Optimum Performance Sports to raise over $4700 for their NIL.
2020 Launch LaGrange
- I had the opportunity my Senior year of High School to compete in a countywide business plan competition called Launch LaGrange. I already previously had a business plan in place for Riegling Sports Management so I decided to use it for the competition.
- Through my previous knowledge and additional research I was able to finish in first place at the school competition to move on to the final round. The final round included 8 participants from 3 separate schools.
- The competition included a formal presentation and business documents presented to a panel of three judges. I ended up finishing third in the county competition. I am glad to have gotten an opportunity like that as it gave me an early start on researching the industry I plan to work in.
- Although I have learned a lot since that certain project, I am proud of what I was able to accomplish with the overall project.
